New Terms and Conditions and Unfair Contract Terms

What is the reason behind the change of the Qantas Premier Credit Card Complimentary Travel Insurance Terms and Conditions (applicable to the Qantas Premier Platinum and Everyday credit card) and the Qantas Premier Titanium Credit Card Complimentary Insurance Terms and Conditions (applicable to the Qantas Premier Titanium credit card)?

We have updated the terms and conditions to provide greater clarity on the intention of the cover in the policy and to make it easier to find information, in response to the Unfair Contract Terms regulation.

What is the Unfair Contract Terms regulation?

As of the 5th of April 2021, the insurance industry’s Insurance Contract Act 1984 became subject to unfair contract terms provisions. This means that any term used in an insurance contract may be deemed unfair, if it causes a significant imbalance in the parties’ rights and obligations.

Does the Unfair Contract Terms regulation affect me?

Yes, as a Qantas Premier credit card holder who meets the eligibility criteria in the terms and conditions, you are protected by the Unfair Contract Terms regulation. 

Does this regulation affect my complimentary insurance cover?

Yes, We have undertaken a comprehensive review of the complimentary insurance policy associated with your Qantas Premier credit card. A summary of changes applied to the policy has been provided to customers in a variation notice sent in August 2021. Alternatively, you can access both the current and the new terms and conditions here.
