How to set up two-factor authentication for Qantas Pay?

You will be prompted to pass two-factor authentication (2FA) when logging in to your Qantas Frequent Flyer or Qantas Pay account on a new device (smartphone, tablet or computer) or a device that is not recognised (for example, if you have cleared your browser cache or cookies) for your one time pin (OTP).

Step 1: Choose an authenticator app

There are many authenticator apps available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and many password manager apps can also be used as authenticator apps. Any of these will work with your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. If you don’t already use an authenticator app, you can download Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator (or any other one you prefer) from your mobile device’s app store.

Step 2: Set up the app and link your accounts

Depending on the specific authenticator app you’re using, setup and linking can look slightly different, however, they will all follow these basic steps.

  1. Go to My account > My profile > Personal information > Authenticator app - to access the Personal information page or any pages within your Personal information, you will need to pass two-factor authentication (2FA). If you don't have an authenticator app, you'll receive an SMS message or email code to pass.
  2. Open your authenticator app and select ‘+’ or ‘Add a code’.
  3. Scan the QR code or copy and paste the text code from your Qantas Frequent Flyer account into your authenticator app and follow the instructions.
  4. Your authenticator app will generate a unique six-digit code every 30 seconds.
  5. To complete linking, enter the code generated into the appropriate field in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account and hit next.

Once successful, your authenticator app is set up and linked. You may be asked to use the code generated by your authenticator app to log in, pass 2FA, or access secure areas of your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.
